We never want cost to be a barrier to treatment

Using health insurance is the most common way people pay for services.

Most traditional insurance plans offer mental health benefits as part of their overall coverage. Your insurance may have a deductible, co-pay, or co-insurance, and since each health insurance plan is different, we would encourage you to contact your health insurance company and ask about outpatient behavioral health benefits.

Cornerstone contracts with numerous health insurance companies. However, not all of our providers are "in-network" with every insurance company. When you contact us for the first time, we will obtain your insurance information and provide you with your options about our providers that are "in-network" with your specific insurance.

If we do not have a contract with your health plan, we are considered "out-of-network," and you will be responsible for the cost of therapy. Most insurance websites usually have a list of therapists who are considered in-network.

As a courtesy, we will submit insurance claims on your behalf and attempt to resolve any issues with your insurance. However, if your insurance still denies your claim or does not pay for your services for any other reason, you are responsible for the balance. We can provide documentation for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company as needed.

Health Savings &
Flexible Spending Accounts

If you have a health savings account (HSA) or a flexible spending account (FSA), you’re eligible to use these accounts to pay for individual mental health counseling.

If your insurance plan doesn’t include mental health coverage or won’t reimburse out-of-network costs, you can use your HSA or FSA funds to cover the balance. Although there should be no issue, it’s always a good idea to call ahead and verify your HSA or FSA plan before booking an appointment.

It’s important to note that marriage and family counseling are not HSA or FSA-eligible unless counseling is needed due to another medical condition. Other specialized treatments, such as substance abuse, are covered. It’s best to check with your plan administrator to ensure eligibility.

Graduated Student Interns

Cornerstone normally has several interns on staff who provide supervised treatment at a significantly reduced cost (currently $25/session).

These providers are still receiving their graduate education and are beginning the process of providing care. These students have been thoroughly interviewed and receive weekly supervision by a licensed and experienced provider.

While these students are new to therapy, we are confident in their abilities. With the level of support and supervision they receive, patients receive quality mental health care at a reduced cost.

We value the role our interns have in our organization and the difference they can make in our community. If you have any questions about our Graduate Student Interns, feel free to contact our office.

We work with several Graduate schools, so each Graduation Internship year will vary.
